It came to us by pure chance that we would earn the opportunity to perform in the legendary WISH BUS. Jose was working at his internship in Publicis JimenezBasic when he was hit by an ad on facebook featuring the WISH 107.5 WISHCOVERY competition. They were calling musicians all over the country to audition. Unfortunately the audition venue was too far and on a date that was unavailable for all of the members of the band so we wrote this one off really quick... Until it turned out that it wasn't a lost cause! Jose found an option to apply for the competition online where we would only have to submit live recorded performances of out original songs. We submitted the required information and finalized our application. Out of around 700 applicants, AREA FIVE was called up 2-3 days later with news that we've passed the audition!
At this point it's easy to get lost in excitement the way we did. But the journey was far from the finish line for this competition because the performance opportunity we were about to embark in was practically a second audition. The way the WISHCOVERY competition works based on what we've seen is that three performers from all over the country are selected one week at a time. Each week, a performer is crowned the week winner based on the judges scores and on the social scores of their video performances which are posted on Youtube for everyone to watch.
We joined the photo shoot, provided out interview answers, waited for literal HOURS until we could play and when the time finally came, we were honestly not disappointed. Even if we were exhausted, worried and extremely hungry, the whole experience from walking into the bus, to taking our final look at the bus before we had to leave was nothing short of exciting and happy. We've been a band for so long we don't get surprised and excited as often as we used to. Also, despite the fact that we've been a band for practically 6 years now, there's still so much we have yet to achieve. Nonetheless, this was an experience meant for the books.
